The client has numerous plants throughout the United States and typically profit margins are very slim. It was determined that the traditional methods of developing manning requirements using stopwatch time study was too time consuming and did not lend itself to the fast pace of the meat packing industry. In addition it was recognized that there would be great benefit if they could standardize methods of working across all their plants so that they could control costs more effectively.

Solution

EASEworks® was implemented, in-house staff were trained and EASE consulting staff provided the additional resources required to implement the system across multiple plants in a short timeframe.

All the tasks in manufacturing were analyzed using video embedded in EASEworks and the labor standards that represent "Best Practices" have been implemented across multiple plants resulting in millions of dollars in annual savings. The system is now being used in both the Pork and Lamb plants with similar results.

Results

In the first 18 months after implementation the client realized over $5.0 million in savings. In addition significant improvements were made as a result of better compliance with Health & Safety requirements. Additional sites have been implemented and the client is anticipating similar results.
